More Education Leaders Endorse Larry Aceves for Superintendent of Public Instruction

SACRAMENTOPrincipals and superintendents from school districts across California have joined with the more than 500 education leaders who have endorsed Larry Aceves in his bid for State Superintendent of Public Instruction.

“I am honored that so many within the education community are supporting my campaign for Superintendent for Public Instruction,” Larry Aceves said. “As a former classroom teacher, principal and school superintendent, I understand the sacrifices that these people are making on a daily basis due to the severe lack of school funding within the state. Our students deserve the best possible education and should not have to suffer because the Governor and our Legislators continue to cut funding year after year. This cycle has to stop and as Superintendent of Public Instruction my goal is to do just that.”

The following leaders have recently endorsed Aceves:
·         Chris Adams – Superintendent, Coast Unified School District (Cambria)
·         Stephen Ahle – Principal, Carlsbad USD – also ACSA Education Council President (Carlsbad)
·         Kerry Beauchaine – Superintendent/Principal, Oak Valley Union Elementary School District (Tulare)
·         Len Foreman -  Superintendent/Principal, Dunsmuir Joint Union High School District (Dunsmuir)
·         Axel Hannemann – Principal, Twin Rivers USD (Sacramento)
·         Kenneth R. Miller – Superintendent, Mountain Elementary School District (Soquel)

In addition to the many teachers, principals, superintendents and administrators across the state, Aceves has also gained the endorsement of the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA).

“At a time when the public’s view of the Legislature is at an all-time low, it is refreshing to see a candidate like Larry Aceves who brings over 30 years of real-world education experience to this job.  He is clearly the most qualified candidate in the race,” said Bob Wells, Executive Director of ACSA.

Larry Aceves began his career as a bilingual kindergarten teacher in 1974 and from there became a principal in 1979. Aceves also has proven experience as a Superintendent, serving two school districts from 1991 to 2006. Early polling shows Aceves with a lead and 60 percent of likely 2010 voters say they are more likely to support a candidate who has served as a school superintendent.  For more information about the campaign, please visit www.larryaceves2010.com.
